The Detailed, 12 Nights, 13 Days Kenya Safari from India Itinerary
Day 1: Pickup from Nairobi, Transfer to Ol Pejeta, & Afternoon Game Drive
On your arrival at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport in Kenya, our private Kenya safari tour guide shall be at hand to receive and warmly welcome you to our beautiful country. We are always at the airport at least one hour before our clients’ scheduled arrival time.
Ours is to make the beginning of your Kenya safari tours as smooth as possible. After introductions, you shall board our comfortable 4×4 safari land cruiser and start your luxury safari in Kenya with a road trip to the Ol Pajeta Conservancy.
This conservancy is situated against the backdrop of Mount Kenya and the Aberdares ranges. It has a huge wildlife population but only covers 364sq km, making it the park with the highest game-to-area ratio in Kenya.
On a Kenyan safari holiday to Ol Pajeta, you have the best chance to see the Big Five in their natural habitat. The road safari will take approximately three and a half hours, starting in Nairobi. You shall arrive just in time for lunch right after checking in, followed by a brief rest period and a chance for you to freshen up.
At 3.00 pm, our guide will promptly pick you up for the first game viewing of your luxury Kenya tour package – an evening game drive in Ol Pejeta conservancy.
Here, you shall meet Baraka, the famous Rhino who calls 100 acres of Ol Pajeta his home. Unfortunately, Baraka suffered some eye infections and cataracts a while back and lost his vision.
Nonetheless, he is the most popular attraction at the conservancy and an ambassador for Rhino conservation. The conservancy affords you a rare opportunity to bottle feed and bond with Baraka.
Equestrians can extend their interaction with the Rhinos by horse riding the 600-acre predator-free enclosure. The horses are excellently trained safari horses. The riding session will bring you to the planet’s only two northern white Rhinos.
Day 2: Morning Game Drive at Ol Pejeta & Transfer to Samburu
You shall take off after breakfast for a morning game drive on the second day of the all-inclusive Kenya safari package. The Conservancy has diverse and varied habitats comprising wetlands, semi-arid grasslands, riverine forests, and woodlands.
Another main Kenya safari tour attraction during your game viewing in Ol-Pejeta is the majestic lions, elephants, and buffaloes. Also abundant are Hippos, Hyenas, Bat-eared Fox, Dik Diks, Elands, Impalas, Jackals, Gazelles, African Wild Dogs, and Giraffes.
You can also opt for a cultural visit during a Kenya safari here. It’s a way of getting to know Kenyan culture and its people and sampling the local cuisine. Ol Pajeta harbors an Environmental and Conservation center dedicated to promoting ecology, culture, and wildlife management.
Here, you shall have a chance to learn exciting facts about the Kenyan people- the Maasai, Pokot, Samburu, and Turkana.
Today’s game drive is a half-day one, and it will see you take lunch at Ol Pejeta and then get a transfer to Samburu. The road trip safari will take approximately 3-4 hours. Upon arrival and check-in, you shall have dinner, after which the guide will leave you to relax and refresh as your day two of Kenya safari tours end.
Day 3: Full-Day Game Drive at Samburu Game Reserve
On your third day, look deeper at what Samburu offers as one of the best Kenya safari tours destination. As always, your expedition shall begin in the early morning. After a hearty breakfast, you shall head off on full-day game-viewing excursions.
Against Africa’s beautiful early sunrise, expect to encounter the earlier batch of predators featuring Lionesses on the prowl. You shall then make a pit stop at the massive Ewaso Ng’iro River, a famous watering hole for all the animals.
It’s a spot where you have a great chance of seeing major animal drama, as predator and prey seek to quench their thirst and, for some, sate their hunger. The River also presents a unique opportunity for posterity to take fantastic safari photos.
This will be followed by lunch and an afternoon to evening game drive. In the early evening, you shall go for an evening game drive on the 165Sq. Km Reserve. Samburu is where a miracle Lioness (christened ‘Kamunyak’) adopted a baby oryx!
Here, aside from the scores of big cats and birds, you can expect to see rare specialist species of animals! The Samburu Special Five include the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, the Gerenuk, the Somali Ostrich, and the Beisa Oryx.
The quintet that forms the ‘Samburu Special Five’ is exclusive to the Samburu Reserve and cannot be found anywhere else in Kenya.
Day 4: Flight to Masai Mara & Relax at the Camp
After breakfast, the Kenya safaris guide shall transfer you to the nearest airstrip for your morning flight to Masai Mara. It’s a short flight that will see you be at this Maasai land by 11 am or 12 pm. The day is not over since you can opt for an afternoon game viewing at Masai Mara Game Reserve.
Day 5: Full-Day Game Drives in Masai Mara Game Reserve with Packed Lunch
Your luxurysafari in Kenya continues on the fifth day after a hearty breakfast. You shall set out on a day-long game drive in the Maasai Mara, where you will meet the African Lion, Elephant, Buffalo, Leopard, and Rhino, collectively known as ‘The Big Five.’
Of the five, the Lion remains the King of the jungle and Africa’s top predator, although the African Buffalo has been known to kill more humans than the Lion. Unlike its cousin, the Water Buffalo, the African Buffalo has never been domesticated and remains wildly aggressive even to safari goers.
As for the Elephants, they have been known to communicate across vast distances only using foot vibrations! On the other hand, Rhinos are the most endangered of the lot. Did you know that Rhinos have poor vision?
So much so that they have been reported sometimes to attack trees and boulders by mistake! Of the Big Five, the agile Leopard is the most elusive, a trait enhanced by the fact that the Leopard is a nocturnal hunter.
On day 5 of your Kenya safari and beach holiday, you will enjoy witnessing these impressive beasts up-close. The great migration is a great treat for those who book our Kenya luxury safari packages between July and October.
Every year, over 2 Million Wildebeest, accompanied by hundreds of thousands of other herbivores, make a dangerous voyage from the Serengeti in Tanzania. To get to Kenya’s Masai Mara Game Reserve, the animals must cross the Crocodile-rich Mara River.
The great migration is the largest overland migration in the world. And the danger for the migrating herds is not limited to the Crocodiles. Over 3,000 Lions follow the migrating herds from Tanzania into Kenya.
These migrant herds are all the more amazing because even in their enormous numbers, they cover a distance of 800 to 1000 kilometers at an approximate speed of 64Km/hr. Even more astonishing is that this thunderous exodus is so synchronized that the animals neither bump into each other nor stray off course!
Scientists have termed this phenomenon of organized relocation as “‘swarm intelligence.” If your Maasai Mara safari coincides with this wonder, you shall get to see it up close, courtesy of our all-inclusive Kenya safari packages that start/end in Nairobi.
Day 6: Full-Day Game Drive in Masai Mara Game Reserve with Packed Lunch
Day 7: Hot air balloon, Maasai village visit, & Afternoon Game Drive
A hot air balloon cruise is a staple in our Kenya luxury safari package. Nothing is as spectacular as the sunrise in Kenya national parks viewed aboard a hot air balloon.
It is the perfect ride that maximizes your Kenya safari tour by enabling you to see the nooks and crannies of the national park that were otherwise invisible while on the ground. You will see the savannah in all its splendor like never before.
The hour-long balloon rides will also be a surreal experience in that even the noise on the ground somehow seems diminished while one is in the air. It is an opportunity to peacefully float over the drama on the ground without missing a second of the action.
After the balloon ride, our safari tour guide shall take you on a tour of a Maasai village, where you will interact with the Maasai, one of Kenya’s most iconic people. You will have an opportunity to witness their simple way of life, which belies the richness of their culture.
You will then return to the hotel in time for lunch. After lunch, the safari guide will let you relax and, at 3:00 pm, get you for evening game drives.
Day 8: Flight from Masai Mara or in Nairobi to Diani Beach
On the 8th day, your Kenya safari packages shall change the scenery by leaving the bush for the beach. Our country is a haven for many attractions, all top of their class, and our beaches are no different.
You may leave the Mara for the coast in two ways depending on your preference. First, you can board a direct flight from Masai Mara to Diani or drive to Nairobi and then catch a flight.
Most people find it more expensive to catch a flight from Masai Mara and opt to fly from Nairobi; it is about USD 250 more expensive.
Day 9: Full-Day Deep Sea Fishing at the Indian Ocean
You shall begin your beach and sea adventures with a deep-sea fishing expedition, starting at 6.30 am and lasting almost the whole day. Typically, the boat crew will give a safety briefing before you venture out into the open sea for a Kenya safari of your life.
Our knowledgeable boat Captain will be looking to get the largest schools of our target fish species. The beauty of deep-sea fishing in Diani is that you always have fresh bait, which increases your chances of a more splendid catch.
Kenya safaris out into the deep sea fishing hotspots will take 15- 45 minutes. The captain will then drop anchor and set up your fishing lines with the assistance of your capable crew.
Depending on your skill level, you may opt to hook your bait and reel in your catch. Nonetheless, the Captain is always available to assist you where needed. So, even for novices, it is a fantastic learning experience!
Diani is well known for its schools of billfish, particularly the Sailfish and Blue Marlin. Here, you get the incredible opportunity of tagging these mammoths and taking photographs with them for posterity.
And worry not because you can promptly release them back into the sea to ensure their survival in the spirit of conservatism. As for food and refreshments, Tea, Coffee, and an assortment of local delicacies shall make their way onto your table shortly after we leave the beach.
Also at hand will be soft drinks, lots of drinking water, and traditional sandwiches. Depending on the tide and hopefully after an action-filled 9 hours of fishing, you shall moor back to the beach.
Day 10: Morning in the Beach/Hotel – Evening Dinner Cruise
Diani beach is the crowning jewel of Kenyan beaches. It’s a stunning expanse of turquoise tranquility, declared Africa’s leading beach destination since 2014 by the World Travel Awards.
Expect to lose track of time and the rest of the world during your stay in Kenya, Diani. The ivory beaches and azure waters framed by gently swaying palms lull you into an indescribable yet otherworldly calm.
We organize an enchanting dinner cruise on this day, beginning with a welcome cocktail at 3.30 pm. Our dhow then gently sails off into the enchanting sea against a backdrop of starlit skies, the perfect ambiance for an idyllic delicious seafood dinner.
Day 11: Scuba Diving at Diani Beach - One of the Most Exciting Activities
Today, you shall switch gears and spice up your marine experience at Diani with Scuba diving. The applicable diving rate is USD 250 per person for two dives, including transfer on a boat to the diving site.
Also, this all-inclusive price covers all the equipment you will need and a certified diving guide. All you need to do is show up! We shall pick you up from the hotel at around 8:00 am and take you to your preferred diving site. The boat transfer takes about 50 minutes.
You can choose the diving spots:
- Shark Alley starts at 7 to 24 meters.
- Baobab dive point – Starting at around 9 meters.
- Kinondo – 10 meters deep to 31 meters deep. After your previous 5 days on the Kenyan Coast, it is time to head back to Nairobi.
- Maisha Mrefu 8-26 meters deep and an excellent point for whale shark spotting.
Water visibility is excellent at 10-30 meters, and the temperature usually is about 25 Celsius. After an enthralling diving experience, your trip will close at around 1:00 pm, when you shall return to the hotel for a hearty lunch.
Day 12: Wasini Island Day Trip – Diving, Snorkeling, and more.
While Diani makes time stand still, Wasini Island makes time fly! Each of these two destinations remarkably does its thing, leaving you captivated differently.
Wasini is an Island away from the bustling town of Mombasa, and her bedazzling sites have a way of reminding us of nature’s majesty. For most first-timers to the Island, its peaceful and virgin features are a surprising yet welcome respite from the busy, noisy city life.
The sea always seems bluer, the shores golden, and the palms greener in Wasini. Expect to enjoy Whale and Dolphin spotting, swimming, and diving at the Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park. The park has picturesque, rich coral gardens, and snorkeling on a clear day is always bound to rejuvenate you.
Your Wasini day trip will begin at 8 am, when we shall pick you up from the hotel, and end at around 5.30 pm. The transfer is done on a boat from Shimoni.
Day 13: Check-Out & Flight to Nairobi
It is the final day of your Kenya vacation, but we hope it will not be the last. It has been an honor to be of service to you. Our plan on this day is to leave the morning to you to enjoy the hotel and beach walks as you reminisce on the previous 12 days’ adventure.
Diani is generally hot, so it is okay to wake up early and go for a sunrise beach walk. Your hotel is located right on the beach. Enjoy your breakfast by the pool, order drinks, and relax. You will then have a fly-in safari to Nairobi. You will land in Nairobi about 45 minutes later in JKIA, signaling the end of your Kenya safari tour.

The Best Kenya Tour Destinations to Include in Your Safari Package from India
The following are the best destination for a mid-range or luxury Kenya holiday package.
1. The Masai Mara National Reserve - Best Kenya Safari for Widlife
Masai Mara National Reserve is a scenic game reserve in Southwest Kenya. The park is home to the Big Five (the African Elephant, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, and Rhino).
It is one of the best places in Africa to spot big cats. It’s estimated that over 1000 lions reside in the Kenyan side of the Mara Serengeti ecosystem. Even more exciting is that these majestic beasts are not the only animals you see during game drives in Masai Mara.
The Mara River is home to Crocodiles and Hippopotamuses. The surrounding savannah is inhabited by Giraffes, Mongoose, Warthogs, Cheetah, and many other wildlife species.
For bird lovers, the Mara is home to over 450 bird species. Common avian species in the Mara include the secretary bird, Kori bustard, Sooty chat, Ostriches, Cinnamon-breasted bunting, African wood owl, and more.
Those booking this luxury Kenya vacation between July and October witness one of the best shows on earth, the annual wildebeest migration. The event is so awe-inspiring that in 2007, it was crowned one of the world’s eight wonders.
So wondrous is the Mara that it has won Africa’s leading National Reserve award six times in a row! This places it among the world’s top tourist destinations. The Mara is a much-have in any Kenya tour and beach vacation package.
2. Amboseli National Park
The best vehicles for a safari are open-top 4×4 Land Cruisers or mini-vans with pop-up roofs to give you the best view and photographic opportunities.
Some visitors prefer an open-air safari vehicle for the best visibility while on game drives. These vehicles often have a raised platform and seats that swivel 360 degrees, allowing for easy spotting and photography of wildlife.
The one thing you should note about open-air vehicles is they are only used within the parks in Kenya and are not ideal for transfer. They make the game drive better but add to the overall Kenya safari cost since you will also need a transfer car. You can opt for these vehicles if you are looking for one of the most luxurious safaris you can of the national park.
3. Lake Nakuru National Park
A safari to Kenya is not worth the money without visiting the “Pink” lake. Lake Nakuru is famous for its flocks of Flamingos that give it a distinctive pink hue from a distance.
This park has a lively disposition all year round. Aside from Flamingoes, it plays host to Hippos and over 400 bird species.
Lake Nakuru has Leopards and Lions, and not just that; a Kenya vacation package from India to this park allows you to see the endangered Rothschild’s Giraffes and the Black and White Rhinos too! Wouldn’t that be a treat?
Best of all, you get to enjoy one of several natural waterfalls that are found in the park! One of the most exciting attractions here is seeing the rhinos up close.
4. Hell’s Gate National Park
North West of Nairobi, is a park named by early explorers; who reckoned that its narrow entry resembled hell. The park is home to hot springs, a geothermal spa, and various wildlife species.
A biking safari at Hell’s Gate will have you freely interacting with the wildlife, including Zebras, Buffalo, and Impala, who idly watch you go by.
Aside from cycling, picturesque scenery makes it a nature photographer’s paradise. Other fun activities during Kenya safari tours in Hell’s gate include rock climbing, bird watching, hiking, and camping.
Did you know that the park’s main entrance, Elsa Gate, is named after Elsa, the lioness in Joy Adamson’s movie Born Free? These are some of the most interesting facts you witness in a Kenya safari.
5. Lewa Downs Conservancy
The 60,000-acre Lewa Conservancy in Laikipia was initially set up as a sanctuary for the Black and White Rhinos. So successful is the conservancy that you can easily spot the big cats; (Lions, Cheetah, and Leopards) during game drives. Some of the rarest animals also inhabit the Conservancy you will find globally. These include the Grevy’s Zebra, the Sitatunga (Marsh buck), and the Oryx.
Aside from wildlife conservation, Lewa also hosts the annual Safaricom marathon. Book our Kenya tour packages and witness “running greats,” led by the world marathon king, Kenya’s Eliud Kipchoge!
All this while you watch stunning wildlife, courtesy of our Kenya safari wildlife package!
6. Samburu National Reserve
Samburu Game Reserve has a unique charm with every attraction in our Kenya tour packages.
For safari starters, aside from the Lions and birds, the reserve has rare species of animals!
These are the Reticulated Giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, the Gerenuk (also known as a ‘Giraffe- Gazelle’ due to the long neck), the Somali Ostrich, and the Beisa Oryx.
This odd assortment is also referred to as the ‘Samburu Five.’ Another charming aspect about Samburu is that it was where a miracle Lioness (christened ‘Kamunyak’) adopted a baby oryx! Such are the marvels of nature.
7. Aberdare National Park
Unlike the preceding attractions in relatively low-altitude areas, the Aberdare National Park is in central Kenya, a deeply forested zone. It was created to protect the slopes and moorland of the Aberdare mountains. Mountain lovers are sure to love this one!
Imagine waterfalls up to 300m high! Dense forest cover and air so clean and crisp it stings your nostrils. Aberdares is perfect for hikes and treks.
Some of the animals you should expect on mid-range or luxury Kenya tours include Elephants, Black Rhinos, Buffaloes, Bush Pigs, and even rare Black Leopards!
Indeed, it doesn’t get any better than an all-inclusive Kenya wildlife safari package.
8. Nairobi National Park
Nairobi National Park is an attractive deal for tourists looking for a budget Kenya safari package or those businessmen visiting Nairobi for business and wanting to do game drives.
It is the only protected area in the world where you can see a variety of wild game and birds in their natural habitat, so close to a capital city!
At this park, even with the Nairobi city skyline as a backdrop, you are still guaranteed to see a Black Rhino roaming around as nature intended.
Also, some of the animals in the park are Buffaloes, Giraffes, Lions, Leopards, Baboons, and Zebra.
9. Shimba Hills National Reserve
Located just 15km from Kenya’s coast is Shimba Hills National Reserve. This coastal rainforest, woodland, and grassland area is the only place in Kenya where you find Sable Antelopes.
The reserve is mainly famed for its enormous elephant population. So vast were the numbers that 150 of these large mammals had to be relocated in 2005.
Their migration to Tsavo East National Park, also in Kenya, was such a massive undertaking that it was described as “the single largest translocation of animals ever undertaken since Noah’s ark.”
Another main attraction of the reserve is the 21m high breathtaking Sheldrick falls. Shimba Hills National Reserve is a top Kenyan wildlife destination, especially if you fancy seeing large herds of elephants. It’s best combined with Tsavo East and a safari to Diani Beach.
10. Diani Beach - Best Kenya Safari for Beach
Luxury Kenya safari tours can never be complete without the mention of Diani. Diani Beach is an award-winning destination with so much to offer. From skydiving, dhow safaris, deep-sea diving, and snorkeling to dolphin safaris, you cannot cover all its activities in one visit!
For those who prefer moderate activity, swimming, and hanging out at the beach, there is always the option of playing beach volleyball, soccer, and simply sunbathing.
But for the adrenaline chasers, big game fishing is always a winner. You can fish for big fish such as the Blue Marlin, Sailfish, or Sharks during your safari in Diani. Combine this destination with a wildlife safari to Tsavo East or West.
