The Detailed, 6 Days Safari in Kenya – Day by Day Activities
Next, let us explore the fun and adventure you can expect on each day of our 6 days in Kenya safari.
Day 1: Pickup from JKIA & Transfer to Amboseli
For this 6 days Kenya safari itinerary group safari, we usually ask that guests book flights that land in the country no later than 2:00 pm so that we can begin the trip to Amboseli on the same day. In any case, your designated tour guide will be there to pick you up when your plane lands.
The safari guide will brief you about the safari and start the road trip to Amboseli. You should arrive at the chosen accommodation by evening.
Those who catch flights that arrive in Nairobi before 10:00 am will get an optional giraffe center visit for $30 per person.
- Half-board accommodation – Dinner and Breakfast
Day 2: Full-Day Game Drive at Amboseli National Park with Packed Lunch
Scenic, serene, and supremely dreamy; there is, quite simply, nothing like an Amboseli morning game drive. From breakfast into midday, you cruise around what is arguably the most riveting scenery in the world during the 6 days Kenya group safari tour.
We are talking of lush grasslands, savannahs, woodlands, swamps, and, to top it all off, spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. There’s also plenty of wildlife to catch, including large herds of elephants, the Big Five, zebras, dik-dik, hyraxes, cheetahs, giraffes, mongooses, lesser kudu, and over 600 bird species.
Add the magical sunrise to that list, and you’ll see why this game drive is absolutely to die for. At midday, we find a sheltered spot in the park and sit for a picnic lunch, after which the afternoon game drive begins.
After that, you start the afternoon game drive, the chance to explore the park’s scenery deeper. To rock your world is the Observation Hill, a lookout with a jaw-dropping view of the park and the Swamp right below it, which bustles with hippos, buffaloes, elephants, and birds. Our evening game drive ends at 5:00 p.m.
- Full-board accommodation – Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 3: Transfer to Nakuru & Afternoon Game Drive at Lake Nakuru National Park
We check you out of the resort after breakfast and start the 6-7 hours trip to Lake Nakuru National Park. You shall be in Lake Nakuru before 1:00 PM. We check in for lunch and an hour of rest. Later, the safari guide will pick you up for the afternoon game drive in Lake Nakuru National park.
- Full-board accommodation – Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 4: Morning Game Drive at Nakuru, Transfer to Mara, & Visit a Maasai Village
True luxury during the 6 days Kenya safari itinerary comes in the form of a morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, and here’s why. First, it’s easier to spot wildlife at that time due to low temperatures; second, the golden sunrise; and last but not least, the flamingos.
You ride among the wildlife in your 4×4 open-topped Landcruiser, marveling at the white rhinos, waterbucks, giraffes, zebras, lions, buffaloes, wildebeests, elephants, and hippos dotted around the park. Walking along the shores of Lake Nakuru is also a very enticing option, especially for the birders, seeing that the lake hosts over 450 bird species.
You embark on your journey to the Mara at 10 am and take lunch at Narok town. You arrive at Mara by 3 pm, heading to a Maasai village. Here, you get a glimpse into the Maasai’s exciting, sometimes risky, lives. There’s everything to rave about this one, starting from the Manyattas, houses made from mud, sticks, urine, and grass; the colorful beadwork and art; and the catchy Maasai songs and dances.
- Half-board accommodation – Dinner and Breakfast
Day 5: Full-Day Game Drive at Masai Mara with Packed Lunch
There are two features of the Mara that are impossible to miss- its stunning scenery and huge varieties of wildlife. Our morning game drive begins at sunrise with an unforgettable drive around Mara’s vast plains.
Keep those eyes peeled for the Big Five, wildebeests, zebras, giraffes, dik-dik, antelopes, hippos, cheetahs, foxes, leopards, hyenas, and for the birders, over 600 bird species. There’s also a stunning vegetation variety to catch, including grasslands, flat-topped acacia trees, and woodlands. You will have lunch in the jungle and continue with your game drive.
Mara afternoons are calm and hot and the best time to explore the park’s scenery. The Mara River is the object of our fascination this time. Depending on which time of the year you book your safari, you could witness the Great Wildebeest Migration (which happens annually from July to October).
Not to worry if you book your vacation earlier or later; there’s plenty of wildlife scuffling at the river for water any time of the year. Our game drive stretches till evening when we pull out our favorite bottle of wine and dumbfoundingly watch as the sunrise and wildlife collide.
- Full-board accommodation – Lunch, Dinner, and Breakfast
Day 6: Check-Out & Transfer to Nairobi
Today, we have breakfast early in the morning and head out for JKIA. The plan is to be at the airport before 11:00 am for the flight back home. Those with a late evening flight will get lunch at the carnivore at an additional cost.
Here, you can try game meat such as crocodiles and ostrich. Local cuisines are also on the menu. We then transfer you to the Nairobi animal orphanage and the safari walk, followed by an airport return at the end of the safari. It was lovely hosting you, and we hope to show you more of Kenya soon.
